And so it Begins...

OK, the summer holidays are upon us.  Now begins the time when your kids really need some more of your time.  They are not occupied by school and homework.  Time for Daddy to step up and give.  This is not to say that you have to be an entertainer or a one-man show, but you should consider trying to make the next two months memorable for your kids.  Take them camping, to a baseball game, go on a picnic, go fishing, anything...remember, it doesn’t matter if it is something you like doing, it matters if it is something they like doing.
I am not going to say much on that, as it is fairly easy to figure out – ask them what they want to do, and plan out a couple of daytrips with them.

Hopefully, most of you have heard of the Father/Child Camping Trip taking place at Balsam Lake on July 23-25.  At this time, the trip is full (although there may be space for one more father and his children – first one to request, gets the spot!).  Here is another initiative by REAL DADS, called “When Daddy Prays”.

Invite REAL DADS to your church! This simple event encourages fathers to pray for their wives, children, schools, communities, and all other things relevant to your child's life. This event is simply a time of prayer by men in your church, lead by REAL DADS.

What do you do?
Choose a night, invite the men and advertise this in your church.

REAL DADS will take care of the rest. There is, of course, absolutely no fee for this event.

Why bother having REAL DADS host this event at your church when you could just do it yourself? Something I have discovered over the years, is that when you contact an outside 'agency' to be involved with something like this, it almost makes it seem like a special, one-time event that guys don't want to miss. It is not meant to trick guys in to coming out, but, hopefully, will help them to see the importance of spending time in prayer for their children.

Have a great summer – we will talk before the end of the summer!

Stay REAL!
