Due to the government shutting things down, the 2020 camping trip was unable to happen for the first time in 10 years. Unfortunately, the 2021 trip will also not be happening. I anticipate getting back on track for 2022.
The REAL DADS Annual Camping Trip is one of the most popular events we offer. This trip has occurred for the last 7 years and has grown each time, finally reaching maximum capacity. We have tried out three different campgrounds and have settled on Earle Rowe Provincial Park in Alliston, Ontario, solely because it can hold the most people in one group camp site - 100! With the largest group campsite in Ontario, a bunch of dads spend a weekend in July with our children in tents and around a campfire. Even if you don't know what you are doing when it comes to camping, all the men are willing to help pitch tents (even in the dark, as we have done more than once, and in a tornado, which we have actually experienced once!), cook food and help out in whatever way we can to ensure you have a great weekend hanging out with your kids.
If you would like to participate in this, contact us and either let us know you want to be informed when the trip is happening, or ask to get added to the email list so you can find out first when event are occurring. Dads have brought their children out ranging in age from 2 to 18, so anything goes!
From two of our dads:
"I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you very much. (My kids) and I had a great time. We really enjoyed ourselves. I learned a lot about both of them this weekend and a little bit about myself and my walk with God.... I will never forget this weekend. I look forward to another camping trip next year."
"These will be some great memories for us. My kids really liked camping, which sort of surprised me (pleasantly of course). This was a great environment to introduce them to camping because if they hadn’t taken to it so well, I felt I had the support of other fathers and my kids would have the comfort of the other kids. Instead of potentially being out alone on a small site getting frustrated and starting to think I had wasted my time. This was a safe and fun weekend; my kids loved it and so did I. The fathers were really easy going and friendly and the kids were actually very well behaved."
