Camping, Courageous and Keepers...oh my!

REAL DADS held its 2nd annual Father-Child Camping Trip on July 15-17 at Bass Lake in Orillia, Ontario.  Last year, we hosted 34 campers in total as we tested the idea.  This year we upped the site to one that would accommodate 60 campers – and filled it quickly!  Once again, it proved to be a major success as almost everybody from last year came out and we had many new faces, too.  This is definitely a great way to spend time with your kids, without the cell phone, work, TV and computer.
Despite the unbelievably hot weather, we had a fantastic time, breaking the heat with a massive water fight that lasted a long time on Saturday.  Pretty much everybody got soaked and it was an impromptu event that the kids will undoubtedly remember for a very long time.
I would like to encourage those who have yet to attend this event to sign up for next year’s event when the notice is given.  You will not be disappointed!

On another note, many of you have heard about the new movie coming out by the makers of “Fireproof”, called “Courageous”.  This movie is all about fathering and having the courage to be a hero to your children by involving yourself in their lives.  I am personally very excited about this movie as this perfectly exemplifies what REAL DADS stands for.  The movie opens in several Canadian cities on September 30, 2011.  REAL DADS has purchased 100 tickets for the Galaxy Theatre in Barrie, for opening night at 7:10.  If you can make it, I strongly encourage you to attend.  The tickets are reduced in price to $12 each.  If you can’t make this showing, please try to make another one in Barrie or in another city.  To find out more about this movie or where it is playing, follow this link:  http://courageouscanada.ca/

Finally, Promise Keepers Canada has asked REAL DADS to partner with them in presenting fathering seminars across Canada!  We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to spread our message of positive fathering, while working alongside this highly respected national organization.  Consider bringing this seminar to your hometown by contacting Promise Keepers Canada at www.promisekeepers.ca/ and requesting this seminar.
Having had a booth at Promise Keepers’ Mississauga event for the last three years, we are pleased once again to attend this year’s event, “Built for Battle” on November 18-19 at the Hershey Centre.  We are especially excited because this year’s line-up is of a quality like we haven’t seen before.  Robin Mark is back, once again, for worship, but the speakers include Steve Arterburn, Steve Farrar, and Miles McPherson, among others.  This is top quality, guys, so be sure to get your tickets early while they are at their cheapest price possible.  I will be shocked if this event doesn’t sell out!

I hope you all had a great summer with your families.  Support your kids as they return to school, continue showing them and telling them how much you love them, and remember to stay REAL!
